SSL

What is SSL 3.0 and what does this mean to me as a CU Banking User?
SSL 3.0 is a protocol developed by Netscape for transmitting private documents via the Internet. SSL works by using a public key to encrypt data that's transferred over the SSL connection. Both Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer support SSL, and many websites use the protocol to obtain confidential user information such as credit card numbers. By convention, URLs that require an SSL connection start with "https:" instead of "http:".

As a CU Banking user, you must be sure that your current browser supports SSL 3.0. If it doesn't, you will be unable to access CU Banking.

How do I know if my browser supports SSL 3.0?
For Internet Explorer, begin by opening your browser, select TOOLS, then INTERNET OPTIONS, and finally the ADVANCED tab. Scroll to the Security Section. There should be a check mark nest to SSL 3.0 if it's enabled. If there is not a check mark next to SSL 3.0, simply select the option and click OK to save changes.

For Netscape Navigator, begin by opening your browser, select COMMUNICATOR, then TOOLS, SECURITY INFORMATION, and finally NAVIGATOR. There should be a check mark next to SSL 3.0 if it's enabled. If not, simply select the option and click OK to save changes.

If you do not see SSL 3.0 as a listed option, you will want to upgrade your browser to a version that has SSL 3.0. When selecting a browser, keep in mind that certain browser versions are certified to work with the CU Banking product. This means that the versions have been tested to ensure each feature/functionality is operating. If a version that is not certified is selected, it may function properly, but has not yet been certified.

If a user is not-upgraded to SSL 3.0, what message will they receive?
The message for Netscape users is: Could not establish a secure connection with this site.

For Internet Explorer: Page Cannot Be Displayed.
